John Golden Theatre Rules

Before attending any performances at the John Golden Theatre in NYC, brushing up on all the venue rules is important to avoid any issues upon arrival. The primary rules for the Golden Theatre in NYC involve prohibited items, age requirements, and the camera policy. We recommend familiarizing yourself with the following:

Venue Dress Code

The John Golden Theatre does not have a dress code. The venue recommends dressing comfortably and wearing something appropriate for your showing, but you are not required to wear formal attire.

Age Requirements

The John Golden Theatre generally does not permit children under the age of four into the venue, but age limits can vary based on the performance. When you purchase tickets online or at the box office, you can find the exact age restriction for your event along with any content warnings.

Camera Policies

The John Golden Theatre strictly prohibits the use of recording devices, including personal cell phones, professional cameras, GoPros, tripods, or any other recording equipment. You may only use your phone for accessibility purposes.

Prohibited Items

The John Golden Theatre prohibits you from bringing the following items inside:

» Any weapons or items that could inflict harm upon others

» Electric scooters

» E-bikes

» Battery-powered transportation decides (unless required for accessibility purposes)

» Food and beverages (unless medically required)

If you have any other questions about what you can or cannot bring inside the venue, we recommend contacting the staff at (212) 239-6200.

The Bag Policy

You may bring a small bag or similar items into the John Golden Theatre, but they must fit on your lap or under your seat. The venue does not recommend bringing large backpacks, suitcases, or duffle bags, as these items will not fit in the seating area. All bags will be subject to search upon arrival.

Concessions

The John Golden Theatre prohibits you from bringing outside food or drinks into the venue. You can take advantage of the water fountains on the lower floor or the on-site bar for refreshments.

Cloakroom Services

The John Golden Theatre offers a cloakroom service to store your coat upon arrival, but you may not use this service for strollers or furs. If you plan on using this service, we recommend arriving early to ensure plenty of time in case there’s a line.

Late Arrival Policies

Your assigned seating cannot be guaranteed if you arrive late for your scheduled performance. The management on site will seat you at their discretion.

It’s a good idea to arrive well before your scheduled showing so you have plenty of time to check your coat, find your seat, and purchase refreshments. Your ticket will tell you the scheduled show time and the opening doors time. You can arrive right at the doors or a bit after to ensure ample time to find your seat before the show begins.
